Qantas was established in outback Queensland, Australia, in 1920 making it the world's second oldest airline behind KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. QANTAS is an acronym which stands for Queensland And Northern Territory Aerial Services.

The airline has also been nicknamed The Flying Kangaroo after its distinctive kangaroo logo that has evolved over the years. The Qantas tag line is Spirit of Australia.

Qantas is Australia's largest international and domestic airline. The Qantas Group also operates other subsidiaries including Jetconnect in New Zealand and their low cost carrier Jetstar Airways. Qantas is rated by Skytrax as a 4 star airline.

Qantas was the third airline to take delivery of the Airbus Superjumbo - the A380-800 - the world's first true twin deck aircraft. Qantas first A380-800 flight was on 20 October 2008 between Melbourne and Los Angeles.

The Qantas fleet of aircraft are fitted out with up to 4 classes, depending on the route. These include economy, premium economy, business and first class. The Qantas A380-800 is configured with 450 seats across all 4 classes.

On selected routes, Qantas International Business class features the Skybed with a full 180 degree recline into an angled lie-flat bed, while Qantas First class features 6ft 6in sleeper seats that recline 190 degrees into a fully flat bed.

Qantas has a proud history of engineering excellence, reliability, outstanding customer service and above all safety.
