Description:

Aitutaki is situated in the South Pacific Ocean and is classed as one of the Cook Islands. It is almost 5000km to Australia and over 8,500km to South America.

Aitutaki is almost an atoll an island of coral that encircles a lagoon partially or fully, with the lagoon area covering around 70square km with the land mass making up only 18 sq square kilometers.

Aitutaki enjoys a tropical marine climate, with hot humid summers and nice warm winters with a much lower humidity. There is rainfall throughout the year increasing in the summer months.

The Aitutaki lagoon and surrounding islands are picturesque. With the sandy beaches lined with palm trees all protecting the warm turquoise water and corals. Tourism facilities are well developed, but are still low key enough not to intrude on the nature of the island.

This is truly a place where you can come and forget your daily life and simply relax, whether you want to spend the day on the many beaches and swimming in the crystal clear waters or simply relay around you pool and enjoy all the Spa facilities you hotel has too offer.

Highlights

One-foot Island
Ministry of Marine Resources
Lagoon tours
Snorkeling and scuba diving

Landmarks / To Dos:

There is a small islet towards the south-east of the lagoon which is home of one of the most important attractions, One Foot Island. It's widely regarded as providing visitors with the best views of the lagoon. One Foot Island was awarded Australasia's Leading Beach at the World Travel Awards in Sydney June 2008.

There are lots of hotels around the islands which offer a variety of goods and services from a boutique bungalow resort which offer equipment as snorkeling gear, kayaks, outrigger canoes, windsurfers and bicycles, to the sheer luxury of the Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa with service second to none.

Lagoon tours and cruises are near idyllic in good weather. There are lots of choices when it come to tours so if you looking for fishing or just a nice day at sea relaxing its well worth checking out all the available options.

There is also a 9 hole golf course which will allow you to play with a back drop like no other. It's recommended you book from your hotel as it's very popular.
