The dense oceanic sea grass is an important endemic species found only in the Mediterranean basin. Alta Vila is an outstanding example of Renaissance military architecture. Palma is the capital of the Balearic Islands and is home to almost half the population of the group of Islands. Here you can find evidence of all the colonials and conquistadors from the Roman and Byzantine to the Muslim and Christian ages. Placa Alfons III is the name of an eye catching plaza which is home to some of the finest restaurants in Menorca. Palma offers history but is just as popular for its beaches and nightlife.
