Description: Bintan Island is the largest of 3,200 islands at 1,866 square kilometers in the Riau Archipelago, situated in Indonesia, South East Asia. Bintan is well known for its long sandy beaches and hilly and tropical inland. There are lots of gold courses which wind through this wonderful island. Bintan is only about 45 minutes from Singapore by boat however you need your passport as you will cross the border of Malaysia-Indonesia. Bintan's surrounding waters are home to over 100,000 marine life species and with its relatively unchanging temperatures throughout the years it a perfect place to visits any time. The waster will experience most of its activities between April and October making this an ideal time to go diving. Due to the geographical location the climate remains tropical throughout the year with warm and sunny days all year round. Humidity can rise as high as 96% during the peak of the summer season. From October to March, the weather turns refreshingly cooler. Commonly known as the monsoon season, day like these see more rainfall and stronger winds. Bintan was once a residence of former sultans which led to a highly developed trade routes between Europe and the Chinese. This proved to be a great competitor with the Dutch who in turn invaded and took control of the Island at the end of the 18th century. Modern day Bintan is very different to its historical past. It has vast amount of tourism which secures jobs for large amount of the population. There are 5 star hotels and some amazing golf courses as well as miles of beaches. This makes Bintan a place where you will find something to suit every taste. As marine life is a large part of the culture here you can often see this across the island, weather you dinning on the freshest sea food or swimming with ocean turtles its easy to see why the ocean plays a huge part of the daily life of many people in Bintan.

Landmarks / To Dos: Trikora is home to the origins of tourism on the island, however now developing in to a new hub for all visitors with its well known beach resorts and miles of beach it's easy to see why this area attracts a large number of tourists. Located in the northern part of the island in Sumpat. The area consists of a few fishing villages along the beaches around Sungai Sumpat and Pulau Sumpat, a small island off the coast. This is where you get the picturesque palm tree lined beaches. Its relatively undeveloped and a paradise of the island. There are literally thousands of island surrounding Bintan and it's easy to get out and see some of them you can hire a boat or get a guide to take you around some of the pristine areas which look untouched by man. As you are only 45 minutes from Singapore it's always worth a visit but there's so much to do time will always be against you. Shopping in Singapore is highly recommended due to its numerous prestige shopping malls.
